The Sales Associate provides service to customers, sorts incoming products, and assists the supervisor in the maintenance of all store operations.
This job is well suited for an individual who is seeking employment in a mission setting and enjoys working with the general public.
ELIGIBILITY
This is a TEMPORARY full-time CANADA SUMMER JOB and applicants MUST BE between 15 - 30 years of age.
- The position starts Tuesday, July 2 thru Friday, August 30.
- Monday thru Friday, 9:45pm to 5:15pm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Takes responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions including visa, debit, etc.
- Calculate discounts and percentages.
- Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards.
- Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing. Brand awareness would be a definite asset.
- Handle the merchandise in a safe and organized manner; assist in stock rotation - "baling" items in the store.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience in retail sales.
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion is required.
- Cash handling experience is required.
- Basic math skills are required.
- Reading skills.
- The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
The incumbent's work environment is in the store.
- Ability to stand for long periods with frequent twisting, bending, crouching and reaching is required.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
