We are actively looking for an Intern, Financial Planning & Analysis to join our FP&A Team for May 2023 (8-month contract). The Intern, FP&A will report into the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis while supporting the greater team in finding solutions and delivering results. This role requires the intern to have strong analytics, a keen desire to learn and the ability to think ‘out of the box’.


  • Assist with management reporting and analysis, driving key insights, recommendations and proposed next steps

  • Assist with business re-forecasts across various area of the P&L

  • Develop and update presentations for both internal and external audiences

  • Create/Manage financial models used to calculate current and projected performance under various scenarios

  • Maintain and build a comprehensive benchmarking library

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis tied to key business needs and executive management requests

  • Other duties as required

Experience and Qualifications

  • Education 3rd or 4th year student in a Bachelor of Commerce program with specialization in Accounting or Finance OR a candidate completing an MBA program and/or new graduate with good working knowledge of accounting/finance principles (GAAP/IFRS) and operational finance

  • Analytical and Financial Modelling experience Demonstrated ability to analyze and draw insights from complex information in a concise manner. Logical in thought and approach. Strong attention to detail and organization skills

  • Working style: Ability to adapt to work effectively in changing situations; ability to “change gears” and is able to work both independently and with diverse individuals/groups. Capable of multi-tasking with good time management

  • Technical Skills – Advanced Excel skills. Good working knowledge of using technology in a finance environment, specifically is a person who is proficient with accounting/financial systems, ERP, analytical tools, BI tools, MS office applications. Highly beneficial to have prior experience with systems such as Yardi, IBM cognos.

  • Proactive – Someone who takes initiative to get results and is innovative in their approach. Self-starter who anticipates next steps and is eager to learn and contribute
