Role Status: Full time, Part time, and Casual Seasonal (May – October)

Job Summary:

Summer patrollers are responsible for responding to guest and staff injuries while also working alongside various departments assisting in daily operations. Summer patrol is also trained in and must be comfortable with rope rescue and evacuation procedures. This position requires solitary work and is well suited to individuals who are motivated and do not require direct supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Providing first aid for injured guests or staff
  • Assisting other departments including gardening, transport, landscaping as well as trades workers when possible
  • Providing transportation for guests and equipment, as needed
  • Acting as a liaison between outside agencies such as NSR and the RCMP during search and rescue efforts
  • Assisting with Skyride line control as needed.
  • Assisting in both Lift Operations and Mountain Adventure Operations
  • Handling Emergency Procedures as required
  • Being responsible for “Risk Management” initiatives as directed
  • Doing daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks
  • Responsible for successful execution chairlift evacuation when required
  • Assist with training various staff in evacuation and rescue skills
  • Liaising with management and coordinating other staff with after-hours emergencies
  • Maintaining a clean work environment, including cleaning/disinfecting of First Aid Facilities and other areas around the mountain (proper PPE will be provided).
  • Performing other duties as required

Required Qualifications and Abilities

  • Occupational First Aid Level 3, Non-Urban Emergency Care, EMR, or equivalent
  • CPR level ‘C’ or ‘HCP’
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Patrol Experience
  • Practical First Aid experience
  • Mountaineering, rock climbing and/or backcountry travel experience
  • Experience with public relations/customer service
  • SPRAT/IRATA Rope Access Technician an asset
  • Rope rescue/SAR training an asset

Working Conditions

Summer Patrol perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all different kinds of weather conditions. Hours of operation are weather dependent. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include rotation of shifts, day/evening shifts, and weekends and statutory holidays.

Compensation and Benefits

$20.59/hour up to 24.09/hour
