About the role
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mt Seymour’s Eco-Adventure Camp provides wilderness-based day camp programs for
children aged 5-12. Our experiential camps engage kids in nature education, wilderness
survival skills, and personal growth. This full-time seasonal position will be part of a small
dynamic team that oversees Mt Seymour’s Summer Camp Programs, and a team of
Outdoor Education Guides. This position can extend into the winter to assist with Mt
Seymour’s winter programming and guided snowshoe tours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train, support and supervise summer program instructors and volunteers.
- Develop and implement programming.
- Supervisor day-to-day operations of summer programs – including overseeing
the opening or closing procedures when Outdoor Education Manager is not
present onsite.
- Prepare weekly reports and organize camp groups by Friday at 10:00 AM in
advance of each upcoming camp session.
- Communicate with parents and guardians, both in person and over the phone, to
assist with camp groupings, medical and behavioural needs, and general
inquiries.
- Communicate effectively with the Guest Experience team regarding booking
changes.
- Ensure all summer instructors complete end-of-day reports accurately and on
time.
- Respond to all inbox inquiries within 2 days in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate and distribute camp T-shirts, ensuring all campers receive them by
Day 2 of each weekly session.
- Step in for absent instructors as needed.
- Assist with other tasks required to help facilitate the smooth running of
programs.
- Ability to handle potential stressful situations calmly and effectively.
- Inspect overall cleanliness of buildings and have safety as your number one
concern.
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
- Manage inventory of supplies and report reordering to manager.
- Provide all necessary clothing for protection against the natural elements and
ability to work outside in a mountain environment for 8 hours.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Completed or in progress of a degree or diploma in a field of study, such as:
Education, Recreation, Biology, Environmental Sciences.
- Strong experience and knowledge of wilderness skills, safety and etiquette.
- Minimum 2-year supervisory experience.
- Minimum 2-year experience leading groups of children and adults.
- Program development experience with a foundation in interpretive and
experiential education.
- Knowledge of local natural history.
- Class 5 driver’s license (preferred).
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification is required.
- Valid Advanced First Aid is an asset (formerly OFA 3)
- Delivering first aid treatment to camp participants or staff members if required,
within your scope.
- A big love for the outdoors and sharing it with others.

safety awareness, flexibility, a sense of humor, and a passion for continuous
learning and mentorship.
- Enthusiastic, energetic and positive attitude.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Sustain physical activity for 8 working hours per day over variable terrain.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds for up to 8 working hours per day.
- Ability to successfully navigate interactions with children (explaining Camper’s
Code of Conduct).
- Available to work Monday – Friday.
- Must be available for entire summer camp duration (June 29, 2026 – September 4, 2026).
- Must be willing to complete a criminal record check.
- Must be willing to supervise children travelling to and from camp on our shuttles.
