Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Summer Student to join the Corporate Planning & Development team. This position offers valuable hands-on experience supporting space planning, space utilization audits, inventory management, and data analysis to help optimize the hospital's physical resources.
Summary Of Duties
Assist with conducting space audits across all campus hospital departments to verify room occupancy, utilization, and space assignments. Support the collection, validation, and maintenance of space inventory data and departmental records. Perform data entry and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy of space planning databases and inventory management systems. Assist in tracking changes to departmental space allocations, moves, renovations, and occupancy updates. Support the preparation of reports, dashboards, floor plans, and presentations related to space utilization and inventory management. Participate in departmental walkthroughs and site visits to collect and verify facility information. Assist with special projects related to space management, facilities planning, and continuous process improvement. Perform general administrative duties and other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
Currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program in Health Administration, Business Administration, Geography, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management, Data Analytics, or a related field. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy when working with data and inventories. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of hospital departments. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Experience with databases, inventory systems, CAD drawings, GIS, or space management software is considered an asset but not required. Previous experience conducting audits, inventory management, data collection, or administrative support is considered an asset. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism in a healthcare environment.
