The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Energy & Environment, this role is responsible for supporting the Energy & Environment Division with various initiatives that contribute to the team’s annual workplan. You will assist with research, data collection, reporting, public education initiatives, and administrative support activities related to sustainability, climate change, and energy management programs. You will be responsible for supporting the Division’s efforts to advance environmental stewardship and sustainability objectives. As the Student, Energy & Environment, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
• Assist with research related to climate change, sustainability, energy management, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and environmental best practices • Support the collection, organization, and analysis of environmental, energy, and greenhouse gas emissions data • Assist with maintaining records, spreadsheets, databases, and performance tracking tools for energy and environmental programs • Support the preparation of reports, presentations, briefing materials, and Council reports • Assist with public education initiatives, community events, communication materials, and administrative duties as required
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic student currently entering Grade 12 and who has successfully completed Grade 11 secondary school education.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated organizational skills and an interest in sustainability, environmental stewardship, climate change, or energy management. We are seeking an individual with superior verbal and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a professional and confidential environment, and excellent interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate for Student, Energy & Environment must be able to provide their own transportation and will be required to work primarily from Town Hall, with occasional travel to other Town facilities as required.
This position offers an hourly rate of $20.89 per hour.
Proof of education and eligibility to work in Canada will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
