What’s in it for you?
  • Wage: $20.00 per hour
  • Hours: Full-Time, 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday (Shifts scheduled between 7:00 am – 5:30 pm).
  • Location: Nanaimo, BC.
About the Role As a Summer Program Leader, you are the spark that makes our summer programs amazing! You will work with an energetic team to deliver awesome, inclusive activities for kids. Whether you’re guiding outdoor games, helping with creative crafts, or supporting children with diverse needs, you will be a positive role model who ensures every child feels like they belong.
How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Lead the Fun: Help design and run high-energy, age-appropriate activities that meet BGC’s core program standards.
  • Keep Kids Safe: Ensure active, safe, and attentive supervision of all participants during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Be a Team Player: Work collaboratively with fellow leaders to create an inclusive environment and implement care goals for kids with diverse abilities.
  • Build Connections: Maintain positive, welcoming relationships with parents, caregivers, and community members.
  • Safety First: Administer first aid when necessary and follow Community Care Facility Licensing requirements to keep our spaces safe and happy.
What You Bring
  • Training: A Responsible Adult Certificate (or 20 hours of training focusing on Child Development, Guidance, Health & Safety, or Nutrition).

  • Education Asset: Post-secondary training in Child & Youth Care, Recreation, or a related field is a huge plus!

  • Safety: A valid First Aid/CPR Certificate.

  • Driver's License: A Class 4 Driver’s License (or a willingness to get one) is preferred.

  • CSJ Eligibility: Must meet Canada Summer Jobs criteria (aged 18–30 at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada as a citizen, permanent resident, or protected refugee).
