Summer Expedition and Reach Ahead Technology.

Location: St. Benedict CSS (Cambridge) OR St. Mary High School

Schedule And Duration

2 Child and Youth Workers (1 at St. Benedict and 1 at St. Mary High School) full days Monday- Thursday, half days Fridays. June 29-July23 (8:30am -3:00pm with 30-minute unpaid lunch AND Fridays 8:30am-12:00pm)

Duration: June 29-July 23, 2026 (* end day may change due to program student needs).

Note: July 1, 2026, is a holiday and will not be a program/working day.

Hourly Rate: $35.93 to $37.76 per hour

Summer Expedition explores visual literacy and visual media used to develop literacy skills in all forms blended with numeracy and technology skills that are further developed.

Summer Reach Ahead Technology is a Grade 9 Credit program. Students will be in a technology course for a full day. Courses include Technology Design, Hairstyling and Aesthetics, Hospitality, or Communication Technology.

Child and Youth Care Workers will be assigned to a secondary site and be using the specific skills of their job classification to collaborate on plans, consult with administrators, SET, and classroom teachers to develop and implement the use of a variety of Universal Supports to assist students to engage in the course and program content.

General Description Of Duties

Work with special education teacher and school administrator to develop a program to meet the student's needs; Assist summer school staff in developing and implementing crisis management plans to ensure the safety of all; Maintaining records as required pursuant to policies and procedures; Communicating to appropriate individuals on students' needs and progress; Supervision of student(s) throughout the day; implement proactive strategies to de-escalate negative behaviour with EA support team; Assist with daily behaviour management program; Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Three (3) year Child and Youth Care Worker college diploma; One (1) to Two (2) years of similar work experience; BMS (Behavioural Management System) is an asset; PMAB (Prevention & Management of Aggressive Behaviour) is an asset; Sound decision making skills with the use of initiative, judgement and resourcefulness; First Aid Certificate is an asset; Experience supporting students with autism would be an asset; Have a reliable vehicle and a valid Ontario driver’s license is an asset as travel throughout the Waterloo Region may be required
