Please Note: Summer school programs are contingent upon student enrolment. If, on or around June 26, 2026, there are insufficient class numbers for this assignment the course will be cancelled, and the teaching contract will be rescinded. Teachers will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement (Article B.29). By accepting this assignment, teachers do not receive experience or earn seniority or aggregate months of service towards conversions to a continuing contract (B status).

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

• extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
• successful experience in teaching prior Summer Learning courses
• Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching ADST (Art Metal and Jewellery) at the secondary school level.
• Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to Art Metal and Jewellery.
• Appropriate professional preparation in the teaching of Technology Education, including specialized training in metalworking and jewellery making.
• Demonstrated competence in teaching Art Metal and Jewellery, including skills in metal fabrication, welding, engraving, and designing wearable art.
• Extensive training and experience in using industry-standard shop equipment and safety protocols for metalwork and jewellery making.
• Demonstrated content knowledge of the most effective ways to help students learn technical skills and artistic expression in metal arts.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate modern technology and digital design (e.g., CAD software) into the metal and jewellery curriculum.
• Demonstrated ability to design curriculum and deliver innovative, project-based programming in an ADST environment.
• Proven ability to foster creativity and critical thinking through hands-on projects that engage students in the design and creation of metal and jewellery pieces.
• Commitment to embedding Indigenous perspectives and culturally responsive practices into the curriculum.
• Demonstrated ability to employ a variety of instructional strategies to achieve the desired learning outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to devise and use a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate their learning.
• Ability to recognize individual student differences and effectively differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a well-organized, safe, and efficient metalworking and jewellery studio.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt or modify curriculum for students experiencing difficulties.
• Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness, and understanding of adolescent development, with enthusiasm for working and developing positive relationships with students.
• Familiarity with a restorative approach to student discipline.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and ongoing skill development in the trades.
