About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Telecom Field Specialist based in Canada.

In this role, you will support critical field data collection activities that contribute to the development and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure across communities. You will work outdoors in assigned territories, capturing accurate GPS and asset data related to utility poles, civil structures, and network infrastructure. The position involves structured, process-driven fieldwork using mobile tools and survey applications to ensure high-quality, client-ready datasets. You will collaborate closely with team leads and field teams to maintain coverage accuracy, avoid duplication, and meet daily production targets. This is a hands-on, outdoor role requiring consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in varying environmental conditions. You will gain exposure to telecom infrastructure workflows while contributing directly to projects that improve connectivity across regions. The environment is supportive, team-oriented, and designed for learning through real-world field experience.

Accountabilities

Conduct field walk-outs in urban and rural areas to collect GPS, asset, and infrastructure data using mobile devices and survey tools. Follow structured mobile application workflows to capture accurate attributes, notes, and geospatial information for telecom and utility assets. Document field observations, exceptions, and outlier scenarios with clarity and precision to ensure data quality and usability. Collaborate with team leads and adjacent field crews to coordinate coverage, prevent duplication, and maintain workflow efficiency. Troubleshoot basic mobile device or application issues in the field and escalate technical challenges when required. Maintain consistent productivity by completing repetitive data collection tasks while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including assessing environmental conditions and stopping work when conditions are unsafe. Support process improvements, testing activities, and field research initiatives as needed.

Requirements

1-2 years of experience in field work, telecommunications, surveying, utilities, or a related technical area (or equivalent education/training). Comfort using mobile devices, GPS tools, and data collection applications on Android/iOS platforms. Ability to follow structured, step-by-step digital workflows with strong attention to accuracy and consistency. Basic understanding of data documentation practices and quality assurance principles in field environments. Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety in outdoor and variable weather conditions. Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team leads and field colleagues. Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with team objectives and daily targets. Availability to commit to the full project duration (approximately mid-July to early September). Experience with GIS tools or telecom/utility fieldwork is an asset.

Benefits

Hands-on field experience supporting real telecommunications and utility infrastructure projects. Opportunity to build practical skills in GPS data collection, mobile surveying tools, and field documentation. Active outdoor work environment with varied daily tasks and locations. Supportive team structure with clear guidance from experienced field leads. Exposure to industry-standard field processes, safety practices, and telecom infrastructure workflows. Opportunity to contribute to projects that improve connectivity across Canadian communities. Learning-focused environment ideal for developing foundational technical field skills.
