What you will be doing
  • Plans and oversees daily programming, special events and weekly trips ensuring an engaging, creative, age-appropriate, inclusive, safe and fun day camp operation
  • Supervises, trains, coaches, mentors, and supports the Camp leaders, Inclusion Facilitators and provides on-going direction, and performance evaluations
  • Recruits, screens, schedules and supports staff and volunteers (Leader-in-Training) into the camp program
  • Adheres to the medication policy and procedures including administering and documenting of medication.
  • Establishes, implements and attends all camp training and staff meetings
  • Ensures the camp program and location meets health and safety standards
  • Adheres to prescribed policies and procedures
  • Maintains records and reports
  • Administers medication to participants who require oral prescribed medication.
  • Orders supplies and equipment
  • Ensures professional and appropriate communication with parents/guardians and the public
  • Responds to emergency situations and behavioural management issues in accordance with procedures
Specialization in Recreation and Leisure or Similar
Experience and Knowledge

Relevant supervision, administration, volunteer, communication, and leadership experience.

We are looking for these certificates
High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development
Standard First Aid, CPR C, AED
Quest 2 (considered an asset)
Behaviour Management Systems and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is considered an asset.

Current and valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check to be provided prior to commencement in this position.
Proof of your current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications.
High Five-PHCD Certificate & Standard First Aid, CPR C AED Certificate
Supervisor Health & Safety Awareness Training Certificate from the Ministry of Labour
Valid G2 or G class driver's license.
Rate of pay

The hourly rate for this position starts at $14.86 (2019 rate).

Hours of work
  • June 1 to September 4, 2020
  • Up to 44 hours per week- *hours dependent on weekly registrations at location
  • Camp does not run on July 1 (Canada Day) or August 3 (Civic Holiday)
  • Mandatory paid training dates/session will occur in June and mandatory weekly evening staff meetings in July and August, as scheduled by the Recreation Coordinator Child & Youth. Please note that training dates are subject to change.
