It is easily accessible by car, float plane or boat. This position is available for Moutcha Bay Resort.

Position Requirements for Live-In Fishing Resort Marine Mechanic Assistant, from June to September.

This position requires and energetic motivated person with the willingness to learn. We are a busy resort and require motivated workers who can adapt to an ever changing environment. You will be responsible for a variety of duties around the resort, most of which require physical labour. We not only offer and great work environment but a chance to participate in activities around the resort. Meals and accommodation are provided. Minimum 2 years experience.

The following certifications considered an asset:

  • SVOP/ROC, MED (15 ton small vessel proficiency operator's certification)
  • Basic first aid with marine endorsement
  • heavy equipment operator experience or certifications.
  • Marine electrical experience or certification.


  • Skills and dedication to working safely with others and independently.
  • Basic knowledge of marine mechanical skills for Yamaha outboard engines, from 9.9 to 300 HP.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical components for vessels from 15' to 35', including operational skills of VHF radios as well as Lowarance GPS/Sounder, and Scotti electric down riggers.
  • Basic knowledge and operational skills for large equipment operations ie. tractor, forklife, exacavator experience is an asset.
  • Minimum valid class 5 driver's license.
  • Willingness to learn and grow with our company ( Yamaha bronze apprenticeship certification may be available)
  • Must be able to work alone and with others in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be physically fit.

Position Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Operate and maintain all equipment, including preventative maintenance.
  • Adhere to health & safety standards..
  • Complete maintenance on Nootka Marine Adventures fleet of vessels in a timely manner while prioritizing your time and work orders.
  • Follow routine maintenance programs set out by Yamaha Canada.
  • Assist in complete spring start-up of each vessel, including sea trials with Marine Operations Manager and Head Guide.
  • Assist in complete fall winterization of each vessel.
  • Ensure detailed maintenance log for each vessel in the fleet including ECM readings.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
