Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS) is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status.

We are currently accepting applications for summer students interested in working as a Camp Counsellor - Recreation.

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with as outlined:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Note: International students are not eligible participants.

What you'll get to do:

  • Support in delivering inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive programming for newcomer families—including children, youth, and children with disabilities. Programming can include eco-friendly hands-on activities, outdoor learning, alongside arts, digital skills, AI tools.
  • Oversee daily program operations, including creating activity schedules, preparing and setting up program spaces, facilitating activities, and ensuring all supplies, equipment, and materials are organized and maintained.
  • Provide administrative coordination by preparing program documents, tracking attendance, updating program records, supporting program evaluation, and assisting with communication to families, staff, and community partners.
  • Support FIS program in strengthening community connections to enhance collaboration and identify free or low-cost activities and resources for newcomer children and youth.

What you need to know/have:

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a post-secondary program in Career Development, Social Services, Education, or a related field.
  • Ability to engage children and youth in learning and skill-building activities
  • Strong organizational skills to support planning and delivery of activities and programs.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate work ethics in alignment with CCS core values.
  • Knowledge and understanding of language barriers and cultural challenges faced by newcomer individuals in vulnerable communities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and community members.
  • Awareness of language barriers and cultural challenges faced by newcomers.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal; proficiency in Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Arabic, Bengali is an asset.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and platforms (e.g., Canva, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, social media).

Location: Toronto, ON

Hours: 35 per week, occasional weekends and evenings may be required.

Compensation: $17.60 per hour
